Careers: Java Developer

Job Summary

Java/J2EE Developer to participate in Java development projects that utilize several core Java technologies including Spring Framework and Hibernate. This person will be involved on hands-on in design, coding, unit testing and integration testing. This position requires an innovative person who has a high level of confidence in their ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. In addition the successful candidate will also be responsible for performance tuning and creating and maintaining a highly scalable code base.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifying for this position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 2-4 years of hands-on experience.

Abilities required/ Work competencies


  • Strong capabilities Java and J2EE development.
  • Demonstrated experience in JBoss Application server development.
  • Expertise in Web Development technologies - Servlets, JSP, Spring or Struts Framework, Hibernate.
  • Demonstrated skills in the software development lifecycle and have good debugging and unit testing skills.
  • Proven track record in development and successful deployment. Performance Skills/ Competencies
  • Analyze and resolve problems expeditiously.
  • Maintain forward progress on initiatives.
  • Identify issues and impediments early.
  • Provide acceptable but creative slutions.
  • Object-oriented development.

Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions/Percentage of Time Spent on Each

  1. Manage the software development lifecycle while using debugging and unit testing skills.
  2. Analyze and resolve problems expeditiously.
  3. Maintain forward progress on initiatives.
  4. Identify issues and impediments early.
  5. Provide acceptable but creative solutions.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong skill set with Servlets, JSP.
  • Strong Object Oriented Design Skills with Java.
  • Strong knowledge in Object Relational Mapping.
  • Experience with version control and build tools such as SVN/CVS and ANT.
  • Experience using Spring/Hibernate.
  • Excellent communication skills and a good team spirit.

Educational and job experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field 2-4 years of hands-on Experience
